Welcome to Elftown's Official Haiku Contest! 'But what is a Haiku?' I hear you ask. Well, a Haiku is a very short poem that follows a specific structure - it's three lines long, and each line must contain a specific amount of syllables. The first and third line contain 5 syllables each, and the middle line 7. In this contest, entrants must attempt to write interesting and captivating haikus on the given theme. That's seventeen syllables to dazzle us with your profundity!
Moderators: [Thunder Cid] & [Chimes]
Deadline: January 1st 2011
Rules:
1 - Your entry must follow the format of a haiku (first line 5 syllables, second line 7 syllables, third line 5 syllables) & the [
#theme].
2 -
No stealing literature. The haiku MUST be written by you. If anyone is found to be stealing the work of others they will be disqualified from this and all future official written contests.
3 -
No fan-fiction in this contest. We accept that you may be inspired somewhere, but no haiku about Harry Potter or Prince Caspian. Original work here please.
4 -
Old work is allowed. Old works are allowed in this contest, providing they have not already been submitted to another official Elftown Contest and fit the theme. If your work has been submitted in an unofficial contest, then you are still free to enter it here.
5 –
No pornography or excessive violence. Use your common sense as to what would be acceptable and what not, but the crew's decision in this matter is final.
6 -
You may submit one entry for this contest.
7 -
Quality restrictions. If you want us to put effort into reading the haiku, put effort into writing it. Haiku with exceptionally bad spelling and/or grammar will be disqualified. If your haiku isn't going to make the cut, we'll put a comment underneath the entry saying so.
8 -
Queries. If you wish to discuss something about how the contest is run, or the rules, then please use the official contest forum:
<forum:Elftown contests>! If you wish to query whether a certain entry fits the theme, please do so
before the deadline. However, if you wish to query whether an entry is stolen or breaks any other rules, you may still bring this up after the contest has closed.
What will we be expecting? Creativity!
